Manitoba Academy of Chinese Studies - Tai Ji Class

MACS Tai Ji class was established over twenty years ago and has been continuing since then. MACS Tai Ji has become one of the Chinese cultural activities, and is offered to both MACS members and the public. The goals of the MACS Tai Ji class are twofold:

1. To provide tai Ji class instruction.
2. To create a fitness routine you can maintain for life.

MACS Tai Ji class teaches simplified Tai Ji 24 forms, gradually moves to 42 forms and then 88 forms. The simplified 24 forms Tai Ji is extracted from the most important elements of the traditional Tai Ji. It is easy to learn and provides the same good benefit as other Tai Ji exercise. It is also the most popular sport in China. The 42 forms Tai Ji is the standard form used in the Asian Games, which is held in Asia once every four years. The 88 forms Tai Ji is more advanced and require some previous experience. In addition, MACS Tai JI class students also learn Tai Ji sword, Tai Ji ruler or Tai Ji fan whenever time allows during the school term.

The Tai Ji class starts at 9:30 AM and ends at 12:00 noon every Saturday and is held in the school gymnasium. It is the same time table as Chinese school.

If anyone is interested in joining the MACS Tai Ji class, please contact the Tai Ji class coordinator or the MACS cultural director for detail.
